The Story Behind Eagle River Service Company: 50 Years of HVAC Experience Built on Family, Service, and Doing the Job Right
Eagle River Service Company may be a family-run residential HVAC company today, but our story began nearly 50 years ago with one decision that changed the course of Bill Lundquist’s life.
In 1975, after serving in the military and unsure what to do next, Bill happened to see a 60 Minutes segment about the top career fields expected to grow over the next decade. High on that list was HVAC technician.
Bill had always been fascinated by how things worked, and the idea of learning a hands-on trade immediately made sense. The next day, he enrolled in trade school. A year later, he was working his first job as an HVAC technician in San Diego, maintaining commercial heating and cooling systems.
From the beginning, Bill noticed something that would shape the rest of his career: dirty HVAC systems do not perform the way they should.
A Lifetime in Heating, Cooling, and Air Quality
In 1979, Bill moved to Frisco, Colorado, and launched his first HVAC business. Over the next decade, he worked for ski resorts, restaurants, and businesses throughout the mountain communities, keeping heating and cooling systems running in some of Colorado’s toughest conditions.
Whether it was an emergency repair, routine maintenance, or a system that simply was not performing correctly, Bill learned the value of showing up, solving the problem, and doing the work the right way.
In the late 1980s, the term “indoor air quality” began to emerge. Long before air duct cleaning became a recognized industry, Bill was already thinking about what he had seen inside HVAC systems over the years: dirt, dust, debris, and contamination building up inside equipment and moving through ductwork.
That experience led him to make a major move. Bill sold his mountain HVAC business, moved to Boulder with his future wife, and started Monster Vac, one of the first air duct cleaning companies in the United States.
Helping Build an Industry
Over the next 30 years, Bill became one of the pioneers of the air duct cleaning and HVAC system cleaning industry.
His work included designing one of the first high-powered vacuum systems for duct cleaning, helping establish the National Air Duct Cleaners Association, serving as NADCA President, and chairing the HVAC Cleaning and Restoration Standards Writing Committee for more than 20 years.
During that time, the committee helped publish the ACR Standard, which defines performance and procedural requirements for the assessment, cleaning, and restoration of HVAC systems.
But for Bill, the work was never just about standards or equipment. It was about helping people understand that their heating and cooling system is more than a furnace, air conditioner, or ductwork. It is a complete system — and when that system is dirty, neglected, or improperly serviced, comfort, efficiency, and indoor air quality can all suffer.
A New Residential HVAC Company is Launched
After selling Monster Vac in 2019, Bill made a brief attempt at retirement. But after a lifetime of working in HVAC, he still believed homeowners deserved a different kind of service company.
That belief led to Eagle River Service Company.
Today, Eagle River Service Company is run by Bill and his sons, bringing decades of HVAC knowledge, system cleaning experience, and a family-first approach to homeowners along Colorado’s Front Range.
We provide residential heating, air conditioning, heat pump, ductless mini-split, boiler, and air duct cleaning services for homeowners in Monument, Colorado Springs, Parker, Castle Rock, and surrounding communities.
